Briefly, describe your wedding photography service.
My style can be described as 50% photojournalist, 25% portrait and 25% artist. I blend the modern and the traditional, offer beautiful pictures, a flexible package and I’m a hard working, nice guy. :}
Describe your style of blending the modern and traditional. Most of my wedding clients really like the look and feel of candid pictures - pictures that capture the action and feeling - the magic moments. So the majority of the pictures are of this type. Most of my clients also want some of the traditional formal shots. For the formal pics (which can be shot before or after the ceremony) I use a complete studio lighting set up (two large umbrellas, studio flash heads, etc.) that gives the pictures a finished, sharp and professional look. Many other wedding photographers only use on camera flash for the formals.
How experienced are you?
I’ve been a professional photographer since 1988, specializing in weddings since 1993. I started shooting in the challenging days of film and have now fully embraced the digital world which offers so many advantages for creating and sharing beautiful images. I’ve also taught photography at the Kalamazoo Institute of Art for several years. I’m proud of the work I’ve done with my students, many of whom have gone on to become successful professionals and artists.
How many pictures will we get?
I shoot several hundred pictures, then edit - enhancing color, making some black and white, cropping for improved composition, make sure they're not too light or too dark - and wind up with 300-400 of the best pix that go on your disc and on www.zenfolio.com
How do we get the pictures? You receive all pictures as high resolution digital files and an immediate release form so that you’re free to make prints and albums. You can also order albums and prints through me if you wish or order through www.zenfolio.com.
Tell me more about the www.zenfolio.com service.
All your pictures will be posted on www.zenfolio.com for on line sharing with your family and friends. Reprints, enlargements, albums and cards can be easily ordered from there (which is particularly convenient if family and friends want pictures) or you can do it yourself since you have control of the digital files.
When will our pictures be ready? Within a month of the wedding day I’ll have the pictures edited, on the disc and posted on www.zenfolio.com.
What about pricing?
Please view the pricing page.
Do you have back up equipment?
Absolutely. I bring multiple cameras, flash units, batteries, etc.
Do you bring an assistant?
Yes. My assistant helps makes the formal picture session run smoothly and helps with equipment. It’s also good to have an extra pair of eyes to spot a button unbuttoned or a shiny forehead.
What’s your personality?
This may seem like an odd question, but I think it’s an important one. When a bride and groom are asked to comment on their wedding photographer they most often talk about how easy he/she was to work with. Let’s face it, the wedding day is a fun and happy occasion, but it can also be long and intense. The last thing you need is a photographer who is not kind, understanding, accommodating and good with people. I’m proud to say that I usually hear, “I’m glad we went with you” when I give the couple their pictures. I’m a nice guy and a good photographer, if I do say so myself. I hope you think so, too.
